Too greasy, too sweet, too salty or even too rich in vitamins, certain foods should be avoided at dinner if you want to have a good night’s sleep.
1.The bread
We consume an average of 130 g of bread per day, or half a baguette.
However, the glycemic index of white bread leads to a spike in insulin which promotes fat storage. It is therefore not recommended to consume it in the evening. Prefer wholemeal bread , rich in fiber and more easily assimilated by the body.
2.The cold cuts
Deli meats contain a lot of salt , which means it increases the risk of waking up at night to rehydrate.
Rich in calories , it is also directly stored in our fat cells if it is consumed in the evening.
Finally, its saturated fatty acid content makes it poorly digestible, which is not conducive to restful sleep.
3.fries
fries are also high in fat , which makes them difficult for the body to assimilate. All fried foods are generally to be avoided at night because the metabolism slows down at bedtime . Digestion is less good and fats are more easily stored.
It is therefore better to reserve this type of food for lunch and in reasonable quantities.
4.Red meat
Red meat is high in protein , which makes it slow to digest. Reducing cravings, it is therefore better to reserve it at lunchtime: it will provide the necessary energy throughout the afternoon, while in the evening it could cause pain and heaviness in the stomach.
As part of a high- protein diet , favor white meats in the evening, such as chicken or turkey.

5.Cheese
A slice of cheese and off to bed? This is not a good idea for our health, nor for our line. Most cheeses are very high in fat and are likely to raise bad cholesterol levels , as fat stores more in the body in the evening. This type of food must therefore be consumed if it is eliminated within hours of consumption.
If you are a fan of cheese, choose those with a lower caloric intake such as fresh goat cheeses or low-fat cheeses .
6.Chilli
Chilli , like pepper , has the effect of increasing body temperature. However, to go from a state of wakefulness to a state of sleep, the body needs to lower its temperature . The higher the body temperature, the less easy it is to fall asleep.
To sleep well, it is best to avoid spicy and spicy dishes .
7.garlic
Condiments of the allium family such as garlic should be avoided because they cause acidity in the stomach and cause gastric reflux , which does not promote good digestion and prevents restful sleep .
It is therefore better to favor them during lunch for easier digestion in the afternoon or replace them with onions.
8.orange
The received idea concerning the vitamin C contained in the orange does not seem justified: vitamin C, known for its « boost » effect, does not cause insomnia or sleep disturbances .
However, if the arms of Morpheus are already complicated to reach, it is better to refrain from consuming citrus fruits in the evening , if only to avoid somatization…
9.The biscuits
Biscuits , rich in sugars and fats, are strongly discouraged, especially in the evening.
They bring no essential nutrients to the body except perhaps if you are about to run a marathon: in this case, the fast carbohydrates they contain provide energy. If you practice sports in the evening, they can therefore be consumed but in minimal quantities. It is also preferable in case of physical effort to eat a banana which also brings potassium and magnesium .
10.Ice
Ice cream is high in fat and sugar. If they are the perfect accompaniment to a good television series, a few hours later they remain on the stomach and delay the hour of falling asleep .
If you are a fan of frozen pleasures, prefer sorbets , which are more digestible and less caloric.
