Combination skin: all the care for beautiful combination skin

Combination skin, both oily and dry, can be a bit of a pain to take good care of. What care to use? How to use them? How to regulate excess sebum? So many questions that we will look into in this article dedicated to combination skin care.

How to distinguish combination skin from oily skin?

Even if oily skin and combination skin are often put in the same bag, there are indeed differences. Oily skin is skin that generates too much sebum all over the face, in large quantities, which causes imperfections. Combination skin, on the other hand, is dry on the cheeks and temples, but oily on the T zone: the forehead, the nose, the chin.

This famous T-zone will therefore have an unattractive shiny appearance, and sometimes be accompanied by blackheads and pimples. On the forehead, nose and chin, the pores are more dilated. At the same time, the cheeks and temples may feel a little tight, as they are rather dry.

With two types of skin combined in one, how can we treat our combination skin to have beautiful skin? As always, the solution is above all in care adapted to your skin type and good daily habits.

Which combination skin care to adopt?

It is necessary to opt for normal to combination skin or combination to oily skin care. Normal skin care may be a little rich for your combination skin, and grease the T zone. Conversely, oily skin care can be a little too aggressive and drying and cause irritation on dry areas. It will therefore surely take a few tests before finding the ideal treatment!

Gentle care for combination skin

Opt for a make-up remover and a gentle cleanser, remembering to cleanse your skin morning and evening to properly eliminate sebum and impurities. On the cream side, opt for a mattifying and astringent combination skin cream: it will limit the shine of the T zone and slow down the development of imperfections.

Hydrate your combination skin

Even if your skin is oily in the T-zone, you need to moisturize your skin daily to keep it healthy. Simply, you have to opt for fairly light moisturizers. You can supplement this care with a healthy diet: not too many fatty foods so as not to generate excess sebum and good hydration to nourish the skin.

Combination skin: a weekly exfoliation to absorb excess sebum

Once a week, after cleaning your skin, you can make a purifying or exfoliating scrub. It will help regulate excess sebum in the T zone and smooth the skin texture. You must apply the scrub to the whole face, but making sure to insist on the T zone.

You can choose a clay mask for combination skin (green, white or rasshoul clay), ideal for balancing sebum production. Be careful once again not to turn to overly aggressive treatments that could further unbalance your combination skin.

Combination skin: what make-up to adopt?

On the make-up side, and especially when it comes to foundation, concealer and blush, you should avoid comedogenic make-up. Comedogenic care clogs pores and favors the appearance of pimples, so it is important to choose non-comedogenic makeup.

Opt for a fluid and light foundation, not too rich because some foundations can make the skin greasy. A mineral foundation will be ideal, as it is light and non-comedogenic. The organic ranges also offer very good references. On powder and blush, be careful not to choose formulas that are too compact, which can suffocate the skin and further activate sebum production. Choose loose powder, which is lighter, and apply it sparingly.

If your combination skin bothers you because of the shine on the T-zone, you can use matting paper. These small papers, available in drugstores and cosmetics stores, help absorb sebum: ideal for two or three touch-ups during the day, without superimposing layers of powder.
